Animated GIF QR code
A looping rainbow, a transparent background, and a link that never expires.
An animated QR code is an ordinary QR code whose colours move. Exprism's is made free in your browser: a 540 × 540 pixel GIF, 46 frames looping every 1.84 seconds, with an optional transparent background, and it never expires.
Why an animated QR code
- It gets seen. On a conference screen, at the end of a video, in a slide or an email signature — where a black square goes unnoticed.
- A perfect loop. 46 frames of 40 ms make one exact turn of the spectrum: no jump when the GIF starts over.
- Transparent background in the Night style (for dark backgrounds) and Classic (for light ones): drop it on your own visual.
- It never expires. The link is inside the code, not behind a redirect.
- Checked before you get it when the browser can read QR codes (Chrome, Android): it only says "verified" when that is true.
- Plays anywhere a GIF plays: Keynote, Canva, Notion, a website, an email, a video editor.
Make an animated GIF QR code
- Paste your link in the field above.
- Pick a style: Prism (rainbow, opaque), Night (transparent, for dark backgrounds) or Classic (black, transparent, for light backgrounds).
- Tap "Animated GIF": the file is made frame by frame in your browser, then downloaded.
In print, a GIF stops moving: for a poster or a flyer, take the PNG or SVG from the QR code generator.

QR codes that live in your videos.
This generator is a piece of Exprism, the creator workspace that connects your notes, your media, editing and publishing. Soon, the QR code of a note, a media file or a share link will be one gesture away — and will drop, rainbow-animated, straight into your edits.

Does an animated QR code scan as well as a static one?
Yes. Every frame of the GIF is the same complete QR code: only the colours change. A phone reads any frame of the loop, and each style's contrast is checked. On a dark background, the Night style is read by the camera of iPhones and recent Android phones.
How do I put an animated QR code in a video?
Download the GIF in the Night style (dark backgrounds) or Classic (light backgrounds): its background is transparent. Place it as a layer above the video and keep it on screen for a few seconds, long enough for someone to take out a phone. Some apps import a GIF as a still image only: the code still scans, it just no longer moves.
What are the GIF's dimensions?
540 × 540 pixels, 46 frames of 40 milliseconds: a 1.84-second loop that repeats forever with no visible jump. Sharp on a screen; for large print, take the SVG, which scales without loss.
Will my animated QR code expire?
No. Your link is written into the code itself: no redirect, no account, no subscription. Many animated QR codes online are "dynamic": they go through the service's server and stop working when the trial or the quota ends.
Why doesn't the Prism style have a transparent background?
Because its rainbow is the background: the dark modules stand out against the flowing spectrum. Removing it would remove the style. For a transparent background, pick Night or Classic.
Is it really free?
Yes: no sign-up, no watermark, no limit, commercial use included. The GIF is made in your browser; your link never leaves your device.
